Barrels (Cylinders) for insert & tubing pumps

Chrome, nickel-carbide, brass + chrome, and alloy steel with carbon-nitride — selected to match abrasive, corrosive, high-temp and gassy service.

Overview

White Star supplies high-quality barrels for sucker rod pumps in full compliance with API-11AX. We stock thin-wall and heavy-wall variants and apply finishes/coatings to extend sealing life, keep stroke smooth, and maintain volumetric efficiency across different well conditions.

We’ll help you choose the right barrel based on production conditions (depth, duty, run profile), fluid composition (abrasives, acidity, pressure, temperature) and well configuration (casing ID, deviation, perforation intervals).

Available barrel options

Barrel type Key features Recommended use
Chrome-plated barrels
(standard execution)
High hardness (Rockwell C ~67–73) Effective in abrasive and corrosive service. Not recommended for acidic media (risk of coating degradation).
Nickel-carbide coated barrels Elevated corrosion resistance with robust wear protection Strong choice for aggressive/acidic environments where standard chrome may underperform.
Brass barrels with chrome finish Blend of structural rigidity and corrosion resistance For service requiring higher wear resistance under corrosive fluids while maintaining smooth stroke.
Alloy steel barrels with carbon-nitride & chrome Maximum surface protection and durability Best for severe duty (abrasives + heat + gas) to preserve sealing and geometry over longer runs.

Chrome-plated barrel

Standard finish for abrasive/corrosive service; high hardness and smooth sealing.

Nickel-carbide coated

Corrosion-forward coating for aggressive, acidic environments.

Brass + chrome

Rigidity and resistance where fluids are harsh and stroke consistency matters.

Alloy steel (CN + chrome)

Maximum protection for severe duty with abrasives, heat and gas cut.
